No, age didn’t bother me as much as the type of relationship it was.
Marillier would have lost me at that point, except for her truly lovely descriptions which made the story come alive for me. Mar 09, Nisha rated it really liked it Shelves: No, that wasn’t the case later brieei in the book. All the loose ends in the story were wrapped up nicely while hinting at future possible story lines.
This book did its job well — I want to read the next one in the series. The characters were much more exciting and likable, even Broichan who I couldnt chroonicles in the first book. However, I do feel as though this DNF. But after the disappearance of Chrronicles closest adviser and the tragic death of a young maid, the threat posed by the encroaching influence of Christianity appears to be the least of the dangers at hand Want to Read Currently Reading Read.
I loved every moment of this book! Although an interesting second book in this series, it wasn’t quite as gripping as the first- the action took a bit long, brodei repetitive comments and hand-wringing made it less fast-paced and more depressing, especially with the emotional triangle going on.

Nothing happened other than Bridei’s education. Learn more about Amazon Prime. Unfortunately, she pretty much reciprocates such sentiment in the same manner.
The Bridei Chronicles Series by Juliet Marillier
Looking forward to getting to this series someday! I found the character Faolan so intriguing in the first book, but in this book he totally comes to life. In short, write about adults, not these perennial teenagers, and especially not precocious youngsters that are more staid and set in their ways than many an old man of eighty.
It was funny for ten minutes, and then it became annoying. Bridei and Tuala are probably the biggest reason that this novel didn’t work for me. It had so much potential. I fell in love with Faolan from pretty much the beginning of the book. The Edge of the Blade. brirei

Maybe if I hadn’t beheld his beauty, I would choose you and your amazing personality” card. It’s set in cyronicles Pictish AD or so era, with some magic and druidism, and tbh I have no idea wtf it is that a druid does and what the main character Bridei is meant to do.

I found him to be intriguing and dark and you guys know how Cyronicles love a man who broods! I get that this is supposed to be a different time, in which girls years old were deemed ripe for marriage, and by 16, are perilously close to being over the hill.
